Shonenji moved to its current location in 1620. The temple bell, along with the bell at Chuonji temple, were twice (1981, 1990) featured on the NHK (Japan Broadcasting Co.) special New Year feature.The moss garden is carefully tended by resident priests. The grounds are particularly lovely in spring when the maple trees bud, and during the spectacular fall foliage season.
