Iiyama City is a temple town, with 20 temples centrally located in the city, and a promenade there as well. Shonenji Temple is lovely in spring’s verdure or autumn’s red and gold, and Gangi Street, which has sidewalks shielded from snow by roofs, is lined with shops selling Buddhist altars, a traditional craft for Iiyama City.

In mid-April, the cherry blossoms in Iiyama Castle Ruins Park let snow country know that spring has arrived.
